Did you know ?  The trademark Kaporal 5 belongs to Mc Lem's firm, a company from Marseille that has been specialised for a long time in fabric amongst which the cotton fabric (used for jeans), and directed by Laurent Emsellem. The creation of the term Kaporal kind of came by accident. While away on business, Laurent Emsellem makes a phone call between two flights asking one of his colleagues to submit the name 'caïpirinha' which is a Brasilian cocktail, for a new denim collection. But his collaborator misunderstands the name and goes for 'caporal'. Finally they will decide to keep this name by only replacing the 'c' by a 'k' which is more usable worldwide.
